City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates sent neighbors a post-tornado update. Here’s the latest:
  • The City has a website with resources for residents impacted by the tornado. This has links to sanitation schedules, resident and business loan information, and more.
  • If you have questions about your appraisal, email the Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD) at tornado@dcad.org. A Disaster Reappraisal Notice was mailed to all impacted residents Dec. 19th. For information about the disaster reappraisal process or anything else DCAD related to the storm, visit this link.
  • FEMA Disaster Declaration. “It is possible that we will be granted a second extension to turn in our FEMA documentation,” Gates says. “If that is the case, our deadline will be extended to Jan. 20. We recently learned that DISD is estimating that it is approximately $108 million under-insured. Due to changes in City and TEA code, the schools are required to have significant upgrades that are not covered under their current policy. It is unclear whether this can be counted toward the $38.5 million threshold.”
  • The Department of Sanitation Services will begin finalizing storm debris collections in the tornado zone Jan. 2. You need to have remaining storm debris to the curb by Jan. 1. All collections should be done by Jan. 15. You can find the trash rules and schedule at DallasCityHall.com. To view the Oct. 20 tornado impact zone and debris collection map, visit this link.
