THE TITLE OF THE EXHIBIT, LENS 57, refers to the give and take of lenses, which allow the viewer to see and be seen. Fifty-seven is the age of the artist, Stuart Boswell. He says his art is like fashion – he tries to think of what colors will fit on the walls of a house. “It’s pleasing to they eye. It’s not making a big statement.” The exhibit should feel seamless, he says, featuring organic forms and media, integrating non-traditional techniques to demonstrate the primal significance of color. But some pieces will stand out, including “Snowdrift,” a piece Boswell says he painted without anything in mind. “There’s a little image in there. Everyone sees it. When I hung it up, I saw it.” You’ll have to visit the exhibit to see it for yourself. The show is free an open to the public during Tempest Tea Room’s normal business hours. For information call Leslie Burns at 972-4713.
