Hillcrest High School’s student newspaper, The Hurricane, just won the Pacemaker Award. Every year, the National Scholastic Press Association awards standout high school publications with the top honor. The Hurricane was one of 14 winners from 350 national finalists. Lori Lewis, a Hillcrest graduate, is this year’s advisor for the 13 students on the newspaper staff. The Episcopal School of Dallas’ Eagle Edition and Saint Mark’s School of Texas’ The ReMarker also won the award, but Hillcrest High School was the only public school in Dallas to get the honor.
