Here’s a real estate transaction that will skew all of the sales comps in our neighborhood if it happens: How about $50 million or so for the Mt. Vernon estate on White Rock Lake?

At least, that’s what the DMN is theorizing the 10,720-square-foot mansion once owned by H.L. Hunt could be selling for, now that it’s on the market as part of what the real estate agent suggests is a "downsizing" by the owner, who I believe is a commercial real estate guy named John Amend. I don’t know Amend, nor have I ever been in the house (despite a few invitations for fund-raisers of various sorts), but it sounds like a pretty nice place … 4-lane bowling alley purchased from the Neiman-Marcus catalog (you know they got a deal on that one), outdoor brick pizza oven, putting green, 16-car garage, tennis court, basement with elevator, and a horseshoe pit (hey, I bet I could afford that one). Anyway, I’m starting to wish I had gone to the house when I was invited.
