If you haven’t heard by now, Hillcrest principal Marty Crawford is leaving the school to become the next superintendent of West ISD.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Crawford on several stories during my time here at Advocate, and I know I’m not alone when I say he’ll be sorely missed. He always had the time and willingness to talk to me (which is not common in this line of work), and he was always highly accommodating when I was a guest on campus. But perhaps Hillcrest parent David Look summed it up best in a message board farewell to Crawford: "It has been a delight to watch a young man grow into a position, learn from and make hard decisions, then enjoy the fruits of his labor."

My understanding is that an interim principal will now be appointed to the school until a permanent replacement is found. I’m calling DISD reps to see what I can find out. I’ll keep you all posted as I learn more.
