The Chocolate Angel has just opened off Preston and Forest–it’s right there in the northwest corner, behind Snappy Salads.

I haven’t visited this new location yet, but I just so happened to eat at the Richardson location this past weekend. This little tearoom has that grandma-type coziness: lots of doilies, figurines and floral arrangements.

The food has that same homey goodness. I went with the ‘ultimate’ grilled cheese, which deserves that distinction. It comes with four cheeses and thick applewood smoked bacon, all served on crispy sourdough. It’s every bit as gooey, good, and fattening as it sounds. That came with a nice crisp house salad, an organic spring mix tossed with apple slices and balsamic  vinaigrette.

I finished lunch off right with a velvety slice of fudge pie. Yes, they’ve combined two of my favorite things into one decadent creation. The tea here is also worth mentioning. I asked for hot tea, and was brought a treasure chest of samples to pick from. I you like the brewed beverage, this is definitely your cup of tea (corny pun intended).
