The city’s on-line reporting system is mostly up and running, and I did a little poking around this morning. It’s not the easiest web gizmo to get around, but I did pick up a couple of nuggets:

• Mayor Park Cities’ report lists $922,000 in outstanding loans as of Dec. 31, 2008.

• Lake Highlands’ Jerry Allen didn’t report any campaign contributions between July 1 and Dec. 31, while Lakewood’s Sheffie Kadane had just $850 in donations. Their reports totaled 11 pages between them.

• Oak Cliff’s Dave Neumann, on the other hand, filed a 26-page report and noted $13,295 in contributions. That included some Dallas County heavyweights – state Sen. John Carona ($250), former mayoral candidate Tom Dunning ($250), and ex-TXU boss Erle Nye ($1000). So far, Neumann has one opponent in the May election, Casey Thomas, whose four-page report listed $170 in contributions.

The big race, as Dave Levinthal at Dallas’ Only Newspaper has reported, looks to be in Preston Hollow, where incumbent Mitch Rasansky has been term limited. Some 80 grand has already been spent, almost unheard of this early in the political season.
