The Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s Gold Crown Awards are the Pulitzer Prizes of the student media world. This year, there are only two high schools in the nation that have both newspapers and yearbooks up for that top honor. St Mark’s School of Texas is one of those schools.

For those of you who remember my recent story about the school’s newspaper "The ReMarker", this comes as no big surprise. Since journalism teacher Ray Westbrook has been at the helm, these boys have dominated the national competitions every year.

Westbrook and 15 of his students are in New York City this week for the annual convention. "The ReMarker" editor Zach Wolfe is among that group, and he’s agreed to do some blogging for us here at Advocate while he’s in New York. Starting tomorrow, he’ll be giving us daily updates on convention happenings, trip highlights, and on who walks away with those all-important Gold Crown Awards—so make sure you check back with us.
