The Hillcrest High School Mock Trial team recently competed against 24 other schools in the state tournament. The team advanced to the semi-final round, earning third place. Teammates include Jeremy Dickie, Michael Hinojosa, Taylor Hinojosa, Tom Lewis, Philip Sartain, Erik Severson, Ross Shwarts and Jeff Wilkie. Steven Haspel and Katherine Sartain served as timekeepers during the tournament. Faculty sponsor Haiya Naftali and attorney-coach Kate Hopkins led the team.

The Hillcrest High School Academic Decathlon team scored highest in the state among schools with 650 to 13,000 students. As a result, they will represent Texas in the online Medium School National Competition at the end of April. Teammates include Mattia Flabiano, Abby Tarlo, Hugo Calderon, Ana Olivares, Dulce Velázquez, Esmeralda Romero, Ben Debus, Jeremy Dickie and Ryan Conway.

WT White High School students Chayce Tisdale and Libny Villalobos were each named semi-finalists of the Texas Male Christian Athlete Award sponsored by Lay Witnesses for Christ International. Coach Alvin Jackson nominated them both, and they were among 36 other semi-finalists from across the state.
