A Dallas cop who allegedly was involved in a drunk driving accident in Preston Hollow last month was fired by Police Chief David Kunkle, according to a report in The Dallas Morning News.

Police say Officer Jeffrey Fowler was driving at the intersection of Midway Road and Bonham Street when he hit another car with his pickup truck. A passenger in Fowler’s car suffered fractures to her skull, pelvis, ribs and spine, among other injuries.

He faces a felony charge of intoxication assault for the incident.

This wasn’t the first time police have suspected Fowler of being in an alcohol-related incident.

In mid-January, he was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication while he was riding in a vehicle that was involved in a car accident in the Oak Lawn neighborhood on his 28th birthday, according to the DMN.

Fowler is one of four officers fired by the chief Monday. The offenses that instigated the firing range from a lieutenant that allegedly used a city phone to make threatening phone calls to the principal of Waxahachie High School to an officer who was accused of shooting a woman’s car in an alleged road rage incident. The fourth officer was fired because he internal investigators discovered he wrote bad checks to pay his rent.
