Saturday night at 7 you can check checkout Art for Darfur at SMU, a photo exhibition that profiles genocide and slavery in Sudan. The aim is to raise awareness, and let neighbors know what they can do to help the situation in Sudan. Admission (which includes food and drinks, live music and spoken word-art performances) is $10 for adults, $5 for students with ID, and free for children, whose all-evening activities will be provided by Art Stop. Proceeds from the event and silent auction will benefit Amnesty International USA’s programs for Darfur, Sudan.

And Sunday you can catch a live reading by NPR humorist and author David Sedaris at SMU’s McFarlin Auditorium. But if you want tickets, you’d better buy them now—the show is almost sold out.
