Students across the state from fourth through 12th grades participated in the Texas State Fish Art Contest and two local kids were honored.

Episcopal School of Dallas student Bethany Berg won third place and $500 cash in the 10th-12th-grade division and Hillcrest High School student Elise Broadway earned honorable mention in the 7th-9th-grade division.

The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, the organization responsible for the Texas division of the national contest, received 624 entries, the largest number of entries ever entered by any state in the contest, which is sponsored nationally by Wildlife Forever of Brooklyn Center, Minn.
