Last week I discovered a great little lunchtime spot, KU Sushi. They offer decent, moderately priced sushi lunch specials, several bento box combos, and a handful of cooked Japanese entrees.

I took advantage of the $12 sashimi and sushi bento box. It came with several pieces of sashimi, a California roll, mixed salad with peanut sauce, miso soup, fresh fruit, and steamed rice. Was it the best sushi I’ve had? No. But it was good, and it was affordable—perfect for lunch.

My husband ordered the chirashiju , a large medley of raw sashimi served over seaweed and rice. It’s a bit on the steep side at $14, but when compared to how much this dish is at most other restaurants, it’s actually a very fair price. If you’re not into the whole raw fish thing, cooked entrées include teriyaki chicken and salmon, udon noodle bowls, and barbecue short ribs.
