This month we profiled Hillcrest band teacher Brian Smith, who has single-handedly given new life to the school’s music program. And now, news of yet another outstanding Hillcrest teacher:
Science teacher Daniel Brown was one of seven in the district to just win a Texas Instrument Foundation Innovations award. The distinction recognizes teachers who have done an exceptional job of engaging kids in science, technology, engineering and math.
Brown will now get a $10,000 prize—half of which he’s obligated to spend on professional development and/or instructional technology, and half of which he can blow on whatever his little heart desires.
