Preston Hollow’s city council representative, District 13’s Mitchell Rasansky, wants Mayor Tom Leppert to delay a vote that would clear the way for the city to begin selling revenue bonds for the convention center hotel until his successor is in office.

Leppert has called a special session on June 19 where the revenue bond vote is expected to happen, five days before term-limited Rasansky’s successor, Ann Margolin, and the other new council members take office.

In a memo to Leppert and key members of the city staff, Rasansky said the 85,000 residents of District 13, which includes Preston Hollow, deserve to be represented in the upcoming vote.
Rasansky has repeatedly recused himself from participating in discussions and votes on the hotel because of a conflict of interest stemming from stock ownership in Citigroup, a potential financier of the project. Margolin said during the campaign she would position her personal finances to not conflict with city business.

Margolin opposed the hotel during debates with her opponent Brint Ryan, but after a citywide vote that narrowly approved the project, it is unclear where she would stand on the bond issue if she had the opportunity to vote, or if her participation would change the expected outcome.
