Saturday morning you can head over to Sur La Table  at 10:30  and learn how to pickle all your fresh summer produce. They’ll be teaching you how to make things like bread and butter pickles, spicy pickled okra, and raspberry chipotle freezer jam. That class is $69 per person.

Saturday afternoon you can catch the Playwrights Under Progress Festival at Kitchen Dog Theater, featuring our neighborhood’s very own Andrew Ryan Milke of Hillcrest High School. That event is free.

And Saturday night Paws in the City is hosting their big annual fundraiser, Top Hats and Tails, at the Frontiers Flight Museum at Love Field. It’ll be a star-studded night with a 1940’s swing dance theme, complete with a live big band. Last year’s event was sold out, and seats are filling up fast again this year, so reserve yours online now if you want to go.

The annual summer salsa competition is happening this Sunday over at North Haven Gardens. You can whip up your best batch, or come sample others–chips provided.
