I typically go to Fish City Grill for the cream of jalapeno soup, which is arguably one of the best soups in Dallas, but that doesn’t exactly hit the spot in this summertime heat. For that reason, Fish City Grill had fallen of my radar—that is, until I stopped in for a recent lunch.

The shrimp cocktail is great for this time of year. It’s light, and not too heavy on the avocado, which I prefer. The fish tacos are also good, although I think they’re more like fish burritos since they’re wrapped in flour tortillas and topped with melted cheese. But they’re still very good nonetheless.

Also check the blackboard for daily specials. There’s always an in-season fish fillets, which you can pair with whatever sides you like. And if you encounter a lunchtime crowd, try and snag a seat at the bar—it’s almost always vacant.
