The Friends of Bachman Lake Library are collecting new and gently used books (hardcover, paperback, and children’s chapter and board books), DVDs, CDs and video games for a book sale, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15. All proceeds benefit programs and services at this new library branch. Donations can be delivered to any librarian during library hours, and should be brought in a container (box or bag) that can be left there. A tax receipt is available on request. Casa de Vida, a respite care program for caregivers of early onset Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, is offered weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m at NorthPark Presbyterian Church, 9555 N. Central Expressway. It’s strictly a social program, with no medications or health care administered. Activities include morning snacks, exercise, bingo, crafts and music.
