Construction of Reliant Rehabilitation Hospital has recently started on Northaven, just west of Central Expressway.

Yesterday I met with Betty Lorch and Becky Brakke of the Hillcrest Forest Neighborhood Association, a group that’s been in talks with the developer since the beginning of this project. They got me up to speed on this new four-story hospital, which will replace that one-story semi-vacant labor hall across from Nothaven Lube.

The new 65,000-square-foot facility will accommodate up to 60 patients, primarily those recovering from major surgery. That means they won’t accept any emergency medical cases, so neighbors don’t have to worry about hearing ambulance sirens—but there probably will be more traffic on the service road that runs in front of the hospital.

The Cirrus Group is building the $16 million building, and Reliant Healthcare will manage the facility once its up and running. Construction should be complete in about a year.
