Just in time for the start of football season, Sprinkles is offering a limited edition blue velvet cupcake in honor of the Dallas Cowboys.
If you buy one of these cupcakes Sept. 12 through 19, all of the proceeds will go to the Salvation Army. Every day during that promotion, one cupcake will be baked with a silver star inside it. If you find that silver star, you win a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Cowboy Stadium for two. And, your name will be entered in a drawing to win four tickets to the Thanksgiving Day game, and an autographed football.
The good folks at Sprinkles were kind enough to give us a preview of these cupcakes, which were heartily enjoyed by our staff. To be honest, they taste just like the red velvet variety: decadently chocolaty and delightfully gooey — only one small warning, these do turn your mouth blue.
