Make the most of this Southern California-like weather with a night in the garden at Valley House. Galley owner Kevin and Cheryl Vogel will be hosting a free reception there Friday night from 6 to 8:30 for Miguel Zapata to celebrate the opening of his exhibition there.

Keep with the outdoor activities Saturday afternoon at the Dealey fall carnival. In addition to dining on barbecue and roasted corn-on-the-cob al fresco, you can let the kids have at the games, giant slides, karaoke, bounce houses, face painting, and obstacle courses.

Wrap up the weekend at North Haven Gardens Sunday afternoon, where folks from the Daffodil Society will be hosting several workshops. For you green thumbs: keep an eye out for their bulb cooler. I’m told it’s impressive, and the only one in town. I know, we haven’t even had our first freeze yet, but apparently, it’s already time to start planning your springtime garden.
