It’s official: SMU is headed for the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, the university’s first bowl game in 25 years — and its eleventh bowl game ever.

SMU athletic director Steve Orsini and head coach June Jones went public with the news Tuesday. Jones, who left his coaching post at University of Hawaii two years ago, led the Mustangs to their biggest turnaround, a 7-5 record and a tie for the Conference USA lead.

The Mustangs will likely take on a Western Athletic Conference opponent Dec. 24 in Honolulu.
