Preston Hollow Elementary is one of 16 schools in the sate—and the only one in DISD—that was chosen for a pilot program being launched by Texas Reading First.

The educational group, funded by the TEA, has initiated a project that will highlight success stories in reading instruction across Texas. Success will be tracked through interviews, classroom observations, and teacher focus groups hosted by data collectors from UT Austin, and the University of Houston. That information will be used to help other schools adopt teaching techniques.

All the schools in this new program were selected based on student achievement gains from 2003 to 2008.
