Frozen yogurt has been around for decades, but its popularity has exploded in the past couple years, especially in our neighborhood — something I still haven’t been able to totally wrap my brain around.
But it seems that yogurt hasn’t totally dominated the frozen treat market. The Paciugo at Preston and Forest was bustling with an after-school crowd during a recent visit there. Most kids seemed to be going for chocolate cones, but I’m a fan of the combo cup—a mix of up to five of your favorite flavors. I like that this place offers sophisticated flavors, like black pepper and olive oil. It’s good. Really. You can’t go wrong with wedding cake, and sea salt is good if you’re adventurous. If you’re lactose intolerant, go for the soy-based flavors, I recommend vanilla lemonade. And if you’re counting calories, try the water-based flavors, but stick with some light and fruity, like the mango ginger.
This shop also has a small café area with free WiFi, so it’s a great place to get some work done—just avoid it during the late afternoon, when it tends to get rush.
