Ristorante Nicola — a new sister restaurant to the Nicola’s Ristorante Italiano in Plano — will open at Preston Commons early next month.

Helmed by executive chef Luigi Iannuario, a Milano native, this eatery will offer traditional, from-scratch Italian fare. Think handmade pastas and sauces, focaccia fresh from the wood-burning oven, and an antipasto display case brimming with Italian cheeses, meats, marinated vegetables and fruits. There will also be an international wine list leaning heavily towards Italian vintages at all price points.

The 7,000-square-foot upscale space, designed by WaterMark Design Studio, will feature an open exhibition-style kitchen so patrons can watch chefs at work, black Murano glass chandeliers, mesquite herringbone scraped wood floors, a prominent u-shaped granite bar, private dining rooms and a patio with Venetian-style drapery.
