Lacrosse is about as foreign to me as Harry Potter’s Quidditch … but almost as intriguing — I mean it’s a rather intense game like soccer but played with sticks … and while wearing a skirt. Well, I guess it’s just girl lacrosse players that wear the skirts, no?

For fans, the 2010 Patriot Cup Lacrosse Tournament to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps injured American soldiers, will be held at SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium this Saturday, March 20.

The day’s main event is a collegiate match pitting Michigan (the returning Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association national champion) against Oregon at 7 p.m., and for local lacrosse action see SMU vs. Texas A&M there at 4:30. There are several other boys high school matches earlier that day — no skirts— and admission is $10-$15.
