The patio at Eden is one of our neighborhood’s best-kept secrets, largely I think, because a lot of people don’t know it’s there. This restaurant is in an old converted home, and the enclosed patio area is at the very back, so you can’t see it from the street. But this little patio makes for a perfect spot when you want to dine al fresco, thanks to the screened walls, which keep the wind down to a minimum.

It was on that patio where I enjoyed a recent brunch. This is one of my favorite places for brunch because it’s BYOB, so you can bring a couple bottles of champagne and make your own mimosas. This place is known for its baked goods, as evidenced by the complimentary medley of still-warm-from-the-oven muffins, breads, and biscuits they bring for you enjoy with your coffee.

Brunch options include the standards, like French toast, omelets, crepes, quiches, sandwiches and salads. Standouts in my book include the blueberry pancakes, and the spinach and Brie omelet. Just make sure you save room for one of the desserts, because that’s chef Karen Kahn’s specialty. I recommend the bread pudding, which comes with a buttery whiskey sauce you drizzle on it yourself. Most of the entrees here are $10 to $15, but they’re big enough to share if you’re not too hungry — which you likely won’t be after eating all those complimentary breads and muffins.
