The W.T. White students who were participating in the Hunt-Winston Solar Car Challenge made it home this week after a 464-mile drive from Fort Worth to Boulder, Colo. The challenge began on July 18 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The team earned the Guntis Terauds Award for “courage in the face of engineering obstacles.” Team captain Alex Madere received the Order of the Solar Cell, awarded to people with a strong passion and belief in high school solar car racing.

It’s definitely not the first time W.T. White students have participated in the challenge, building their very own solar car. Check out this Advocate article from last year, spotlighting these geniuses.

Congratulations, team.
