Rumors started swirling Friday that Zinsky’s Deli at Preston and Royal will be closing its doors very soon, like, Monday. It was open when I stopped by for lunch earlier, but manager Brian Hirsh says not for long. The shop will officially shut down at the end of the day Tuesday.
Zinksky’s has only been open for a year, and business has never been good, Hirsh says. It’s really the only tried-and-true deli of its kind on this side of town, but it never caught on with customers. Today, even after word was out that the store might be closing, only a couple of booths were occupied in the middle of the lunch hour.
The store will close, but Zinsky’s will still be catering for parties and events.
