Rachel Simmons, bestselling author of “The Curse of the Good Girl”, will host a back-to-school workshop for girls7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Lamplighter School.

The book explores the pressure teens face and the almost unachievable expectations society has for the so-called “good girl”. Simmons confronts that idea with a guide to the “contemporary girl culture” of today.

In the workshop, for girls ages 8 and older, Simmons will talk about how to cultivate good friendships among peers while staying true to yourself. Parents also can attend to learn how to support their daughters on their journey through girlhood.

Admission to the event is $15 a pair (for parent and daughter) and includes a copy of the book. Tickets are available at Barnes & Noble, via email at crm2566@bn.com or by calling 972.612.4028.
