This isn’t your average let’s-memorize-the-periodic-table science program. The University of Texas at Austin and Ursuline Academy have partnered to offer a free workshop for middle-school girls called, “Girl Talk: Energy, Climate & Water in the 21st Century,” 9 a.m.- noon Saturday at the academy.

Students can interact with professionals during “Breakfast with a Pro”, discussing climate change and renewable resources. A short presentation will follow with a panel discussion involving UT faculty, students and researchers from the Jackson School of Geosciences and the Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering Department.

This comes just a few months after Ursuline dedicated its new, green building, expanding the French Family Science, Math and Technology Center, which was the first building in the Southwest to be LEED-certified. Tours of the facility will be available 1o a.m.-noon during the Girl Talk workshop.
