The quote in Sunday’s DMN story refers to SMU dean Dr. William Tsutsui and his beautiful obsession with the mean, green monster. I couldn’t help but share this wittingly and creatively written article, showing how the Princeton and Harvard grad’s passion for Godzilla has translated into some interesting (and fun) ideas about what the giant lizard means to both American and Japanese societies.

Tsutsui held a lecture at earlier this month at SMU, focusing on Godzilla’s place in Japanese culture. His book, Godzilla on My Mind: Fifty Years of the King of Monsters, which celebrated the half-century anniversary of the character.
