For those kids who just can’t get enough math in class every day, there’s a local club out there just for them. Geared toward junior high and high school students, Metroplex Math Circle meets on Saturday afternoons at UT Dallas, offering free presentations on all kinds of math-related subjects.The group aims to accelerate mathematical education and problem-solving skills.

This week, Dr. Carol Reynolds, associate professor of music history at SMU, will discuss the relationship between math and music, exploring things like rhythm, sound, notation and composition and the role that numbers play. The group will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday in Room 2.410 of the Engineering and Computer Sciences Building.
