A place with the word “chill” in its name may not sound that appealing in this kind of weather, but Chill Bubble Tea off Inwood across from the Galleria has several hot tea options that are quite tasty. In fact, they’re better than the actual bubble tea, which just doesn’t measure up to my favorite boba spot, Fat Straws.

Try the carrot cake hot tea latte. You get the soothing feel of the latte without the richness you might expect from that flavor. It’s very light and satisfying on a cold day.

On a side note, I have to admit that I did not know this place existed, and it’s been open for two years. I attribute that to its bad location. It’s on the west side of the Tollway, tucked away in a shopping center. With Inwood being a one-way service road on that stretch and North Dallas traffic being what it is, you have to make a concerted effort to get there.

I Heart Boba at Preston and Forest is, of course, much more convenient and comparable to Chill. At any rate, it’s good to have another option for bubble tea in the neighborhood. They also have free Wi-fi and a nice interior design.
