Nine spelling champions, fifth to eighth grade, competed in Providence Christian School spelling bee, but only one came out on top. Christopher Chapman of Preston Hollow won the contest, conquering words like “gnash”, “malleable” and his winning word, “reservoir”. He’ll advance to the Dallas County Private Schools Spelling Bee on Feb. 22, representing Providence.

If Christopher advances again, the next stage would be the Dallas Morning News Regional Spelling Bee and then, the Scripps Howard National Bee Championship in Washington, D. C.
