If your car is still covered in dirt and soot from all the aftermath of this month’s ice and snow, head over to the Franklin Middle School parking lot where the Hillcrest High School Biomedical Group will be having a car wash fundraiser noon-4 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 19.

The students are raising money for their trip to Washington D.C. where they’ll be presenting their biomedical research alongside esteemed scientists and graduate students from all over the world.

I wrote about Dr. Ward Coats and his students in our November Advocate. They spend their weekend mornings at the UT Southwestern McDonald laboratory, conducting graduate-level research. They’re some of the only high school kids to present at the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology conference.
