You may have already seen him behind a keyboard at Neuhaus Cafe in Preston Royal Village. That’s Ben Higginbotham, a DeGoyler Elementary and Marsh Middle School alumnus who’s now a sophomore at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

Higginbotham is part of a donor-funded project, “Booker 3”, spearheaded by the school’s Advisory Board. It allows three Booker T. students to write and perform an original song and have it professionally recorded and distributed. Higginbotham’s song “21” made Volume 2. It hit iTunes on Tuesday, and you can listen to it here.

The project is produced by Cary Pierce of Jackopierce, who we featured in our East Dallas magazine.

You can also catch him live again at Neuhaus 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Friday where he’ll be performing on keyboard and vocals.
