Come tonight for a glimpse of DISD’s newest Fine Arts Academy housed at W. T. White High School. The award-winning choir, numbering over 200 students, and winner of the Sweepstakes Award at this year’s UIL competition, is hosting its free spring concert at 7 p.m.

And mark your calendars for next Friday, May 20, when almost 300 dance students will perform in Dance Explosion at 7 p.m.  Admission is $5.

The Fine Arts Academy also includes Visual Art and an awarding-winning Theater program. Fine Arts is one of three academies offered at W.T. White as part of the High School Redesign. The other academies are: Engineering (Project Lead the Way); Business Administration and Finance; and Information Technology.

White is the highest performing comprehensive Dallas ISD high school and is “Recognized” for academic achievement by the Texas Education Agency and has also been noticed by Newsweek magazine for its Advanced Placement program. With over 2,300 students, it is the second largest school in the district serving every demographic group – 13 percent African-American; 74 percent Hispanic; 11 percent white and 70 percent economically disadvantaged.
