Let’s try to avoid spending time outside, shall we? Here’s a few events that happen regularly that maybe you’ve overlooked:

Slappy’s Puppet Playhouse performs at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30 at Bookmarks in NorthPark Center. The former Ringling Bros. clowns known as Slappy and Monday will present their popular vaudevillian show for elementary-aged children but its hard for adults not to admire this heartwarming comedy duo.

Want to learn to knit? The Preston Royal Purls knitting group meets 1-3 p.m. Friday, July 29 in the Preston Royal Library auditorium.

It’s your last chance to check out the most recent exhibits at the Meadows Museum, which both close Sunday, July 31. Two shows spotlight Spanish-born American painter Esteban Vicente. “Concrete Improvisations: Collages and Sculpture by Esteban Vicente” features 81 of the artist’s works and explores his influence on others. “Esteban Vicente in America: Collage, Color, and Somewhere in Between” focuses on his work after he arrived in New York in 1936. Admission is $8 for adults; $6 for seniors; free Thurs. after 5 p.m. and free for children.
