The Texas Education Agency released its ratings today, and the number of Dallas ISD schools rated academically unacceptable has risen dramatically from 15 schools to 33. The Observer posted the full list this afternoon. Here is last year’s list.

The ratings are based on TAKS scores, completion rates and drop-out rates. Plus, the state raised its standards, doing away with the Texas Projection Measure for future performance. The progress of students learning English was also factored in this year as well as some special education students.

Here’s how our neighborhood schools fared:

High schools: W.T. White dropped from recognized to acceptable while Hillcrest rose from unacceptable to acceptable. Thomas Jefferson remained the same at acceptable.

Middle schools: Franklin stayed the same, acceptable. Marsh remained recognized. E.D Walker dropped from exemplary to recognized.

Elementary schools: Kramer, Preston Hollow, Walnut Hill, Degolyer, Gooch, Pershing, Withers and Nathan Adams all dropped from exemplary to recognized. Foster went from recognized to acceptable. Dealey Montessori remained exemplary.
