This weekend: Bluegrass, playhouses and children’s programs

Uncle Calvin’s Coffeehouse presents bluegrass band The Lost Pines at 8 p.m. Friday. The Border Blasters open the show. Admission is $12-$15.

Parade of Playhouses benefiting Dallas CASA opens Friday at NorthPark Center, displaying 20 custom-built playhouses. The event aims to raise awareness about children who are caught up in the foster care system. Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the playhouses. Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony at 4 p.m. Aug. 21.

Also at NorthPark this weekend, Bookmarks hosts an extended program of events 1-4 p.m. Saturday, featuring featuring interactive music at 1 p.m., Japanese Kabuki Theater at 2 p.m., ambient band dj eWi at 3 p.m. and an origami workshop 1-4 p.m. Admission is free.
