The Howl-o-ween Pooch Parade 3-5 p.m. Saturday in the Plaza at Preston Center. Bring your best-dressed dog for a chance to win awards, including Best Costume, Dog that Looks Most Like Their Owner, Largest/Smallest Dog and Most Talented Dog. Registration begins at 2 p.m. In advance, it’s $10 for the first pet, $5 for additional ones. At the parade, it’s $15 per pet. The event is sponsored by Ebby Halliday’s Preston Center office, and proceeds benefit United Way.

Head on down to the Preston Royal Village for the Fall Family Festival 4-7 p.m. Saturday. There’s games, prizes and children’s entertainment. Admission is free.

NorthPark Center hosts Sam’s Day with a Halloween theme 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in the mall’s CenterPark Garden. It was established in honor of Sam Killian who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2005. The event includes a silent auction, obstacle course, bounce house, face painting, balloon artists and a performance by David Chicken.  Sam’s Day has raised nearly $600,000 over the past five years, with all donations benefiting Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD).
