From Sheila Cunningham's "BookBerm" installation that appeared at Texas Discovery Garden, Fair Park and the Creative Arts Center.

For the past nine years, one event has been giving the community a look inside the studios of our neighborhood artists. The North Dallas Artist Studio Tour is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 28 and 1-5 p.m. April 29, featuring 28 artists in 17 studios.

The self-guided tour takes art aficionados to various residential locations between Northwest Highway and LBJ Freeway. Artists include painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, woodworkers, collage, mixed media and glass.

Studio One Nineteen off Central Expressway will feature several artists at once such as painter Jane Stephenson, sculptor Reeder Hoover and watercolor artist Karin Michele Anderson.

At the Shannon Studio on Northport Drive, North Dallas resident Sheila Cunningham will present her photography. She was featured in the Advocate in 2007. That’s an image from “BookBerm” above, an installation she did with another local artist, VET. The piece shows the cultural transition from the written word to digital media.

See a map of the tour, and view the artists’ work online. The cost is free.
