About 5,000 people are expected to hit the pavement at the annual Michelob Ultra No. 14 Katy 5K Run-Walk-Skate set for May 10 at Reverchon Park. Registration is now open online. Sign up early because it might sell out.
The Kids Point 5k Dash begins at 6:30 p.m., and the 5k run and walk is at 7 p.m. Afterward, there’s a Katy Picnic with food from more than 50 local restaurants and entertainment by Live 80.
Registration is $40 and covers the 5k and picnic. For the kids, it’s $10. Proceeds benefit trail improvements and upkeep, which are not paid for by the city – 95 percent of it comes from private sources. The Friends of the Katy Trail raise that money through annual memberships, the 5k and the annual Support Campaign.
