During a recent trip to my neighborhood Goodwill drop-off, I handed a Goodwill employee a bag of plastic hangers.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, we don’t take hangers,” he told me.

If Goodwill, which probably accepts dozens upon dozens of bags and boxes of clothing daily, doesn’t take hangers, who does?

A few web searches for local places that recycle or reuse hangers have led me nowhere. It seems that some dry cleaners will accept wire hangers, but not plastic or those new-fangled fabric versions. I hate to throw them in the dumpster, but they have been in my car for weeks now, so unless in-the-know neighbors can help me out, the dumpster is where they’re about to wind up.
