Restaurant talk: Nando's opens today at Preston and Royal

The new Mexican food spot Nando’s, with its Veracruz style menu, opens its doors today on the southwest corner of Preston and Royal. The restaurant hosted a soft opening Sunday for family, friends and guests in the area interested in trying out Nando’s food.

Owner and former Gloria’s employee, Fernando Santos, hired his mother, Blanco Husca as the chef. She was also the chef at The Original Mexican Café in Galveston, according to D Magazine’s SideDish.
