The old Worth Hotel, built in 1904 along the railroad tracks in Carrolton, is now open to tourists of Dallas Heritage Village. Following a three-year restoration project, the historic hotel features a new exterior and in-depth interior exhibit detailing the history of hotel visitors and workers.

The hotel served as the focal point for a history project for several area students collectively known as the Dallas Heritage Village Junior Historians.

The kids, ages 11-18, have been researching the history of the hotel all year. They unearthed previously unknown history of hotel staffers and residents. Using census records, news articles and recorded memories from a boy who grew up in the Worth Hotel, the young historians put together a snapshot of life at the hotel in 1910.

They developed new exhibit materials including signage, cell phone tours, and are working on a You Tube Video.

Sam Childers, a Preston Hollow resident who authored “Images of America: Historic Dallas Hotels” spoke at last week’s grand re-opening of the Worth Hotel, and the Junior Historians cut the ceremonial ribbons.
