W.T. White will host its first “Great Day of Service” from 8 a.m. – noon Nov. 10.

Ever since Jason Wallace took a job at the high school in the spring, the leadership class teacher and program development specialist was looking to implement the community service tradition he had at his college.

Wallace’s 11 students rounded up more volunteers and now 160 teenagers will rise with the sun Saturday to help others.

Each student from his class is leading up a group and in charge of making sure the day runs smoothly. The students also found faculty sponsors, and so many were willing that some had to be turned away, Wallace says.

The eight groups will volunteer at: SoupMobile, Promise House, North Dallas Shared Ministries, Rainbow Days, AIDS Interfaith Network, Girls Inc., Trinity River Audubon Center and have a protein drive at Albertsons.
