DISD Prep University’s Family Workshop Series hosts a 6:30–7:30 p.m. workshop at Thomas Jefferson on “Teaching Your Child to Respect Differences” March 7.

Southwest Gallery will host the first solo showing of artist Don Sahli’s works. Sahli has a background in the Russian School of Painting, which he learned from famous Russian colorist Sergei Bongart as his last apprentice. The opening reception is 1–5 p.m. March 9.

Cpl. David Bates of T.C. Marsh will sign his book, “Narrow It Down,” 2–4 p.m. at the Preston-Royal Barnes and Noble on March 9. Before you attend the event be sure to read this Q&A I did with Bates about his book.
