• No neighborhood restaurants made Open Table’s list of the 100 best restaurants for service in the U.S. and there was only one in Dallas – the French Room – and just three in Texas. The list was based on more than 5 million restaurant reviews over the past year on the OpenTable reservation website.
• Wine of the week: Barahonda Monastrell Sin-Madera 2010 ($9): This Spanish red has the region’s funky aroma — the wine geeks call it barnyard, but that doesn’t do it justice. It’s an earthy, intriguing smell that is classic Spain. There is also some dark fruit, lots of spiciness and not a bit of oak. Available at Spec’s.
